On this Father's Day I remember

I remember catching my first Salmon.

I remember riding motorcycles above Curlew Lake and having a run-in with a bull.

I remember looking for the salt shaker in the sage brush at Potholes Lakes

I remember getting up from my hospital bed and walking down the hall to visit my dad and see how he was doing after our surgery.

I remember being told that door locks should have their tumblers on the top to last longer.

I remember, after a conversation with another fisherman, being told that my correcting his knowledge of lake names while he told a fishing story was something I needed to fix.

I remember cleaning engine parts in diesel out in the carport and cutting myself. I was told there was nothing there that would hurt me and to keep working.

I remember being told an Aircraft Carrier would fit into Curlew Lake, but couldn't turn around and to pay attention to the fish.

I remember on the spit of June Lake being taught how to cast a dry fly.  It was something you did late in the afternoon when there was no wind.

I remember my father wrapping a broken brake line with a torn up shirt so we could get down off the mountain one hunting season. I remember we used my shirt for the patch.

I remember my father coming out at 3am to help me limp my wrecked car home; the car he rebuilt from the ground up and painted with spray cans, but nobody could tell.

I remember my father coming home from work singing and immediately changing from his work clothes to his home clothes.

I remember my father at the top of Mt. Adams and then sliding back down after the climb.

I remember building a lot of carports.

I remember bringing the Granada home after selling it and having it break down on the kid who bought it.

I remember my father telling me to give the Transmission Guy $40.00 for working on my Fairlane all day, but not being able to fix it.

I remember every year's Christmas Shopping Day in downtown Seattle that always ended at the Guadalajara.

I remember hunting in the snow all day and never seeing another soul.

These thing I remember on this Father's Day.
